Show me a dog that doesn’t know the word “treat.” Ziggy’s intelligence goes as far to know the word “breakfast biscuit.” Our favorite weekend ritual to find a few breakfast treats (for both humans and dogs) is the Uptown Farmer’s Market.
The market located at 5757 North Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85012 is open Saturdays from 8am-1pm and Wednesdays from 9am-1pm. Depending on the day and hour you arrive, the market is usually buzzing. It is one of the larger (if not largest?) farmer’s markets in the Phoenix metro area. If your dog is not as comfortable with large crowds and other dogs in close proximity, we recommend coming on Wednesdays or in the early morning on Saturdays. By 10am the market aisles will be packed.
There are several booths offering dog treats, fashion, and water stations, however, we have a favorite. Seek out Ruff Life Dog Bones. Or if you’re with Ziggy, he can help you navigate all the way from the parking lot, straight to their booth. His nose knows.

Ruff Life offers smoked meats and bones for dogs. The booth staff are always generous with their free dog samples. Again, this can become a crowded place during peak hours. Make sure your dog is friendly with others or you can order their treats online.
Scroll down for a picture of our mutts begging the attendants for more treats, as if they aren’t regulars.

Other notable stands for people food are Wild Chickpea (phenomenal scratch-made V/GF), Mr. Momo’s Dumplings, Sergio’s Burrito’s, Thai Stick, The Tamale Store, and Caffio Espresso Bar.
Please note: this farmer’s market is set up on a church parking lot. While there are grassy edges you can relax, the entire event and booths are on asphalt. Please make sure you’re bringing your dog on a cool day when their paws won’t burn. During the spring, summer, and fall months, this market can get hot in the sun. Do not overheat your dog.
